What are you giving up for Lent?

I come from a Muslim father and a Baptist mother, and neither them nor me practice Lent. However, this year I decided what better reason than GOD to see if I have the will power to give up something. So I ask the question: What are you giving up for Lent? This year it seems as though I am not the only person that does not usually practice Lent, giving up something this year. It seems as though people are doing it just for an excuse to see if they can give up stupid things like Facebook and finally become productive.

Unfortunately, people have forgotten or never learned the meaning behind Lent. It is not to see if you can give up something or not. Lent is a long tradition within the Christian Church. A tradition of 40 days to recall the 40 days Jesus spent fasting and being tempted by Satan. It is a time to show your discipline and to sacrifice just as Jesus did for you. I wont get to religious but I do intend to educate.

Your probably wondering what am I giving up for Lent? Well I decided to give up caffeine Lately I have found myself drinking 3 cups of coffee or cappuccino a day, religiously. Sad? Yes

I hope your thing that you give up, goes beyond Easter or you at least slow down on the intake in the future. Some suggestions from friends of mine, for those of you that may be getting stuck are meat, fast food, chocolate, soda, random hook ups sex , and of course Facebook. So tell me what are you giving up for Lent?
